Here's a picture of my favorite quilt. It's lap size. I made it using scraps from a Trip Around the World that I had made for my daughter's twin size bed. I cut the squares with scissors...not a rotary cutter. I handpieced the entire top and then handquilted it. I did the handpiecing as I watched the Winter Olympics in 1988. I loved to watch the figure skaters. I remember Debi Thomas was skating for the US that year. I have no specific reason for this being my favorite top other than I love some of the old, traditional patterns and I enjoy working with pastels.

Belvie, what a lovely quilt!! It's so soft and cuddly looking. I also like your choice for quilting, the X's and bars really compliment eachother.

You made me chuckle...ah, I too was cutting out with scissors and hand piecing but one year later-I started quilting in 1989. I saw the San Francisco earthquake happen on TV right before my eyes-I was watching the World Series while hand piecing.

You mean you can make quilts with scissors? Imagine that, and the quilt is every bit as wonderful as the one made with lots of gadgets! It is a tribute to skill instead of doing it fast and easy.
Lovely quilt. I'm a big fan of Figure skating, too. I can't quilt while watching that on TV, except when there are commericals.
Great quilt has a very soothing quality about it.

Beautiful quilt. What an amazing feat to use all the old fashioned tools to cut this quilt. I have enough trouble with a rotary cuteer.

It is a beautiful quilt, and I love that you have those memories associated with it -- your daughter's quilt, the Olympics. Coincidentally, that same Debbi Thomas is now an orthopedic surgeon in the town where I live.
